- 4 cups tart cherries
- 3 -4 tablespoons flour
- 1 1⁄3 cups sugar
- 1⁄2 tablespoon almond extract
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 (9 inch) pie crusts
directions
- Wash cherries and remove pits.
- Combine sugar, flour, and almond extract. Mix gently with cherries. Let mixture stand 15 minutes.
- Pour fruit into pie shell and dot with butter. Cover with well pricked top crust.
- Bake 10 minutes at 450, then reduce heat to 350 and bake about 40 minutes longer or until golden brown.
