Directions

  1. Wash cherries and remove pits.
  2. Combine sugar, flour, and almond extract. Mix gently with cherries. Let mixture stand 15 minutes.
  3. Pour fruit into pie shell and dot with butter. Cover with well pricked top crust.
  4. Bake 10 minutes at 450, then reduce heat to 350 and bake about 40 minutes longer or until golden brown.
