  1. Cream together sugar, shortening, eggs, salt and baking soda.
  2. Add cherries, nuts and flour; mix well.
  3. Put in greased and floured 13x9-inch glass dish.
  4. Bake at 375°F for 30 minutes.
  5. Blend together sauce ingredients.
  6. Cook until thickened, stirring constantly.
  7. Remove from heat.
  8. Pour over cherry pudding.
  9. Enjoy.
