This cake is sooooooo simple, we love it. Try it with yellow cake and lemon pie filling. Tastes like lemon merengue cake, without the work. It's also great with yellow cake, apples and cinnamon.
This is a quick and tasty dessert for any occasion. If you are daring try apple pie filling with cinnamon sprinkled over it or peach pie filling or even try this recipe with a chocolate cake mix, you really can not go wrong.
Nice cake! Simple and very nice taste. I'm going to try this again and vary the fruit with maybe some strawberries or peaches. Awesome.
Thanks a whole lot for this one! Because I don't eat sweets, I just LOVE quick & easy recipes that I can do ahead to please my guests. This was a hit and they couldn't believe how easy & delicious it was. I didn't change a thing, but threw a glob of whipped cream on top & my guests were ecstatic - someone even nabbed the leftovers on the way out. Deliciously moist cake! I made this for my step-daughter's birthday and we loved it! I used a can of strawberry pie filling in place of cherry, because that was her request, and it really was delicious. I also used MizzNezz's "Quick Yellow Cake" recipe in place of the boxed cake mix. I can't wait to try this cake with the cherry pie filling as originally posted. I bet blueberry pie filling would be wonderful too! Thanks Lorac!
This cake is really good. I love cherries and this hit the spot. Very moist and good.
The marshmallows rose to the top. However, they seemed to be getting too brown. Turned the oven down ti 325 degrees which did help some. On the whole, the cake is easy, quick, and tasty!
I made this with a chocolate cake mix, since my grandson Jacob was helping. I don't suggest using the colored marshmallows, as it is alarming when the green moves up to the top, but they didn't effect the flavor. My grandson was looking for something gooey, so I made #170194 Marshmallow Cream Cheese Frosting. That frosting is not too sweet and made this cake decadent.
Delicious! Very sweet cake but tasty! This is an easy cake and I made with DD (22 months) & DS (8 years). Wonderful project for beginner cooks, or a no fuss dessert! We used Cherry Chip cake instead of yellow (what I had on hand). I bet it would be really good with Chocolate cake too. Turned out wonderful. The marshmallows really do float to the top and make a crust. You can't even tell there are marshmallows in the dish.
