This recipe is my great grandmothers. She had passed on before I was born but it is the only recipe that exists from her collection. It is a treasured family recipe that came with strings attached.

  1. Combine all sauce ingredients in the order given. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  2. For dumplings, sift dry ingredients. Rub in butter, add milk and stir. Drop into sauce by teaspoons. Cover and steam for about 20 minutes.
  3. Serve warm.
