Directions

  1. Heat oven to 350 degrees F.
  2. Mix flour, brown sugar, salt and baking soda.
  3. Cut in shortening.
  4. Add butter or margarine.
  5. Press in ungreased 13 x 9 pan.
  6. Bake 25 minutes.
  7. Mix topping ingredients except nuts; spread over baked layer.
  8. Sprinkle with nuts.
  9. Bake 25 minutes or until center is set.
  10. Cool completely and then cut into bars.
