Cheesy Dog Biscuit Treats

"Found this recipe to try for killer. I have not made this for him yet. Time does not include prep time."

• Yields: 3 dozen

ingredients

• 236.59 ml rolled oats (such as Quaker)
• 78.78 ml margarine
• 236.59 ml boiling water
• 177.44 ml cornmeal
• 14.79 ml sugar
• 9.85 ml instant chicken bouillon or 9.85 ml instant beef bouillon
• 118.29 ml milk
• 236.59 ml shredded cheddar cheese
• 1 egg, beaten
• wheat flour

directions

1. Preheat your oven to 325 degrees.
2. Grease cookie sheets.
3. In large bowl, combine rolled oats, margarine and boiling water; let stand 10 minutes. Stir in cornmeal, sugar, bouillon, milk, cheese and egg; mix well. Lightly spoon flour into measuring cup; level off. Add flour 1 cup at a time, mixing well after each addition to form a stiff dough.
4. On floured surface, knead in remaining flour until dough is smooth and no longer sticky, 3 to 4 minutes. Roll or pat out dough to 1/2 inch thickness, cut with bone shaped cookie cutter. Place 1 inch apart on greased cookie sheets. Bake at 325 degrees for 35 to 45 minutes on until golden brown. Cool completely. Store loosely covered. Makes 3 1/2 dozen large dog biscuits or 8 dozen small dog biscuits.

WOW, couldn't believe how much the "kids" loved these. Best ones yet. The Mastif, the Pitt and the Dalmation all loved these. They were at the kitchen drooling while they were baking..thanks for a crowd pleaser!!

I have had a hard time finding a good dog biscuit recipe that didn't turn out more like little bread snacks. This recipe was easy and made a very large amount. These turned out great and the dog gave it two paws up! Thanks!

Our dog loved these biscuits! She is picky when it comes to her treats and she ate these right away. I had regular flavored instant oatmeal so I used that and the beef bouillon. Didnt have a bone shaped cookie cutter so I used a small juice glass to cut out the biscuits. Five "woof" review for this recipe! (Made and reviewed for Pick A Chef 2007)
