I really love cabbage and this is a recipe that I had put together to clean out the refrigerator. Try it with different types of cheeses and see what works best for you. I have tried smoked Gouda, parmesan, mozzarella and many more.

Ingredients Nutrition

  • 3 cups cabbage, shredded
  • 12 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 14 cup light cream or 14 cup table cream
  • 12 cup mexican oaxaca cheese, grated

Directions

  1. Cook cabbage in boiling salted water until tender.
  2. Drain and return to pot.
  3. Add cream and cheese over low heat, stirring constantly until cheese melts and coats cabbage.

A nice, quick and simple cabbage side dish. I used sharp cheddar for the cheese. Just added some pepper and I think maybe a little cayenne pepper or sweet paprika would be nice on this, too. Thanx for a great cabbage quickie!

Very nice! I used queso fresca for the cheese. I enjoyed this! Made for Pick a Chef 2007.
