Ground beef casserole with French Fried Onions

Top Review by J-Lynn

This is really tasty! I'm giving it 4 stars because it is not something we would want to eat often- maybe just when I'm short on time occasionally. Most of the ingredients are atrociously processed; I made some tweaks by using home frozen corn- thawed, and instead of cheese sauce I just sprinkled on some shredded cheddar. The taste is very rich, so much so that next time I might use half the onions; just sprinkle some on top and don't mix any in! But yummy! I served with cornbread on the side.

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a large skillet brown ground beef; drain. Stir in corn, barbecue sauce, chili powder and 1/2 can of the onions.
  2. Pour half the meat mixture into a 1 1/2 quart casserole; cover with half the cheese spread. Repeat layers.
  3. Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees for 20 to 25 minutes or until heated through.
  4. Top with remaining onions, bake, uncovered, 5 minutes or until onions are golden brown. Serve over buns, corn bread or rice if desired.
