  • CRUST.
  • Preheat oven to 350F.
  • Place butter and brown sugar in a bowl and mix with an electric mixer on low speed for 1 minute or until fluffy. Add flour and mix for 1 minute or until combined. Press dough into the bottom of an ungreased 8 inch square pan and bake for 10 minutes or until lightly browned.
  • FILLING.
  • Place the cream cheese and sugar in a large bowl and mix with an electric mixer on low speed for 2 minutes or until smooth. Add the milk, lemon juice, vanilla and egg and mix for 1 minute or until combined.
  • Spread the mixture over the baked crust and drop tablespoonfuls of the jam on the filling. Run a knife back and forth through the fillinf to distribute the jam, being careful not to cut into the crust. Bake for 25 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool comletely and cut into 2 inch squares.

  1. Forgot to rate these. Very good. Made as directed with blackberry jam (seedless). The jam was pretty blobby and this resulted in spots with lots of jam and spots with very little, and it made marbling difficult. Next time I will heat the jam a bit in the microwave so it is easier to marble. All raters gave 4 solid stars with potential for five next time. I might also try incorporating some toasted walnuts or pecans into the crust. THanks, will definitely keep this one and make often. Forgot one other thing - I did increase recipe to 24 bars and made in 9x13 pan, no troubles with that change at all. THANKS!
