Cheese Wafers (Straws, Cookies)

"A WONDERFUL cheesy crispy cookie for a snack or make into straws and have with soup. Well seasoned for the "just right" taste and flavor. Do include all seasonings as they enhance the flavor. We are a third generation family enjoying these cheese wafers or cheese krispies as some of us call them. A great appetizer for parties or weddings. They go well with coffee, fruit drink or a cocktail. Note: Put only 1/2 teaspoon cayenne powder if you don't like it very hot."

  1. This is a great recipe for a quick, savory snack. My Sunday School class raved about the flavor profiles: garlic, heat from the cayenne powder, tang from the Worcestershire sauce, and the crunch from rice krispies (and some added finely chopped pecans). I will definitely make them again soon - with so much leftover rice krispies, I can't think of a better way to use them up! Addendum: I liked them much better by baking them longer than the specified time.

  2. Great flavor!! Only put the full teaspoon of cayenne powder if you really I like hot stuff. I do so I put the whole teaspoon. I think I mixed the butter and cheese wrong because my mix came out very dry. Next time I will use a blender and a little more butter. But this is a really great recipe, and I will try to get it right next time

  3. One of my biggest flops ever. It doesn't say what diameter to make them and or how far apart so mine all just melted together into a ??mess not cooked in the middle and burnt on the edges so maybe it's just me LOL live and learn

  4. Hi! My grandma and I would make cheese straws together around the holiday times and I was looking for a recipe because I had to bring snacks to my class and I wanted to bring something unique and "Southern". These turned out so wonderful and made about 50 wafers which is great for my class. They are sitting beside me know and my class is not for another 8 hours or so...it is very hard to resist not eating them all before then. I LOVE the crunch of the rice crispies. Thanks for sharing!

  5. I'm so glad I finally got around to making these tasty little delights. I wasn't sure how well I liked them at first, I thought the worcestershire sauce seemed a little over powering, but they really grew on me and now I can't stop eating them They would be wonderful with a glass of wine or a cocktail. Thanks for posting this great recipe!
