Cheerio Applesauce Muffins

"We have an abundance of cheerios at our house right now, so I had an urge to make something out of them. I found this recipe for muffins at Cheerios.com. very yummy! I didn't use the oil though because the muffins had all the applesauce in them. It still turned out good."

  1. Delicious! I didn't have cheerios, but I wanted to use up some languishing boxes of cereal. I had some Cinnamon Toast Crunch, some Corn Pops, and some Reeses choc/pb cereal, which I combined to make two cups, then crushed. For applesauce, I used two single serving cups of strawberry-applesauce. Smelled great while baking, came out nice and tender, and so good! I'll probably never be able to duplicate the exact ratio and type of leftover cereals, but I will definitely keep this recipe close at hand.

  2. Nice easy recipe to make with kids. Put the cheerios in ziploc baggies and let the pre-schoolers crush them! Healthy alternative!! Tasted good and even picky eaters tried them! Tried to put food coloring in them to make them pink for Valentines day but they came out brown inside after baking. We put some colored sprinkles on top, what kid can resist sprinkles??

  3. Perfect recipe to make for my daughters Christmas party at daycare I had to bring cheerios how boring..well not anymore thanks to you. Also I made mini muffins instead and also used apple cinnamon cheerios :)

  4. These were an improvement on my old "clean out the pantry" cereal muffin recipe. They came out delicious and moist, even though I left out the oil. Keeper!

  5. quick and easy to throw together plus I always have the items on hand. made them today for an after school snack and all 3 kids gave it a thumbs up. i didn't crush the cereal alot so they still had some crunch to them. I used multigrain cheerios since thats what i had. thanks for sharing.
