Few things go together as well as cheese and apples. Try this cheddar pie crust next time you make an apple pie.

  1. Combine the flour, cheese, and salt in a bowl.
  2. Using a pastry blender or two knives cut in the shortening until course crumbs form.
  3. Sprinkle with iced water (5 or 6 tablespoons will be needed) and using a fork, toss the crumbs until a dough is formed.
  4. Press the dough firmly into a ball.
  5. Proceed with recipe.
