I thought this bread was very nice. I was expecting more cheese flavor,i'll try adding more next time.I substituted 1 cup flour with white wheat flour and did not have self-rising, so I added 1/2 teas each of baking soda and baking powder. It rose to a full size loaf. I served this with Cauliflower/Broccoli Soup # 268001

Excellent, great for guests and we dumped the butter in first after reading the 1st reviewer's serendipitous discovery. Used Guinness stout for a definitive flavour and this is probably why 2/5 thought it was a bit "sour" like sour-dough bread which 3/5 adored. Will probably use a lighter beer next time to experiment for a less "sour" background.

I cannot sing enough praises of this bread! It deserves 10 stars. I almost followed directions to a tee..I screwed up and dumped the butter on before the first baking, but I am glad I did as this rose quite high and putting it on afterwards would have been difficult. The texture is perfect, this is SO much better than buying that expensive mix at the home parties....a definite MUST try. The addition of cheese and chives only inhances the finished product.

I am a teacher, and have been married to my high school sweetheart for almost 9 years. I have a niece who is 7, and a nephew who is 1. Also, I have 2 sweet kitties. Sinatra is a bit on the plump side, and Audrey is a petite dainty thing. They both are almost mirror images of each other.
