Chagrin Falls Bacon

This is one of those old family recipes that, every few years, everyone starts looking for. This year no one could find it so I hunted all over for the recipe and then passed it on to my brother and a cousin. So mostly I am posting it here so I don't lose it! Very tasty but certainly not an everyday type recipe. We originally got this from a family friend who was from Chagrin Falls, Ohio. Hence the name!

Ingredients Nutrition

  1. Take a baking pan and line it with foil. Then place a rack on the foil and set aside.
  2. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
  3. Mix together the brown sugar and spices in a bowl.
  4. Cut the bacon in half so each original piece is now 2 pieces.
  5. Dredge the bacon pieces in the brown sugar mixture, coating well.
  6. Put each piece of bacon on the rack.
  7. Cook for 20-30 minutes.
  8. Use tongs to remove from the rack (they will be VERY hot!) and place on wax paper to cool.
  9. Can be frozen.

This was a big hit at our holiday party and so easy to prepare. I think everyone is in high anticipation of the next cocktail party so they can get some more of this tasty treat. Thanks for this recipe.

A very good recipe. I lined the pan with parchment paper and laid the whole strips of bacon on the paper. I then sprinkled the sugar mixture over them. Very yummy!

This is fantastic!! I served this for Christmas brunch with french toast, potatoes & fruit. I love the way the sugar carmelizes on the bacon. And, the spices are perfect together with the meat. Because I had made a similar recipe before & set off the smoke detector as brunch guests were arriving, I decided to freeze, as suggested. However, I wasn't sure how to re-heat the bacon. I put it back in the oven on a rack (to drain off any excess grease) at 375 for 15 minutes - some of the edges burned. So, I'll have to adjust the temp & time for re-heating.
