I tried this recipe for my husbands birthday it was a huge success. I then emailed it to my sister-in-law who made it the following weekend and loved it.
Great recipe, however, the fillings made enough for 3 cakes (I used 2 9'' rounds).. The strawberry glaze was a bit overpowering, so the second time around I added more strawberries and I cut the top layer of cake in two, so that I had two layers of filling.. it made for a much more decadent treat! In two days, family and friends devoured two cakes!! Although I don't know if it is spelled cassada, casada, or cassata.. searching for a recipe paid off.. Thanks for the help!!
Thank you Petdrwife for sharing this wonderful recipe...My family & I enjoyed this cake very much. It makes a lovely tall, moist cake, the filling is incredible, and who doesn't love whipped cream. It was even better the next day...this goes into the family keeper box.
