Every now and again I get the urge to eat something fresh and healthy. I tried this raw diet soup out from a raw food website and found it to be quite delicious! The avocado gave it some richness and overall it was tangy and flavourful. I was pleasantly surprised! Remember not to warm it too much at the end (no more than 116 degrees Farhenheit or 46.6 degrees Celcius), so that you get all the healthy enzymes etc that come with a raw food recipe.
- 10 carrots
- 1 green apple
- 1 avocado
- 1⁄2 lemon
- 1⁄2 teaspoon sea salt
- 1⁄2 teaspoon chopped gingerroot
- 1⁄4 teaspoon allspice
- Juice the carrots, apple, and lemon.
- Put everything juice and otherwise into a blender and blend till thick and smooth.
- Warm slightly in a pot on the stove (no more than 116 F/46.6 C) and serve.
I made this recipe this past winter, and it was really good! I love raw food recipes, because the nutritional content is not lost.
What a wonderful soup! Lots of lip smacks and a chorus of 'mmmm's accompanied its being devoured. Made it exactly as written and I agree, spices, salt and all were right on target. Because my carrots were cold to begin with, I let the soup whirl in the Vita Mix for a couple of minutes to take the chill off and warm it just a smidge. Thank you Sealy for posting. We loved it so well, I'm sure this soup will be made regularly!
Absolutely delicious!! All my fruit and veggies were at room temp. I used my food processor for blending purposes and felt no need to heat the mixture at all. Fresh and delightful...the flavors combine heavenly...the avocado adds tons of body to the wonderful juice with the perfect hints of lemon and ginger. I LOVED this...the ingredients are dead on, do not be deceived by the amounts just go with it and you will be thrilled with the results!! Thank you Sealy, this is one of my new favorites!! I made it for lunch on a lovely, sunny early Fall day... fabulous day, fabulous food - it can not get better than that :)
