I was hesitant, not seeing any oregano or basil in this recipe, but these meatballs are OUTSTANDING!! I slowly simmer my meatballs in the sauce because I like the way it makes the sauce taste, but other than that, I followed the recipe. Thanks, Marie!
I think this is the only recipe on Zaar that has the obligate 3 meats to make a perfect Italian meatball. This is the true meatball of Italian chefs (look up meatballs on foodtv.com & see), thank you very much Marie!
I couldn't find ground veal in the grocery store I went to so I doubled the beef and they were still great. Easy to make and loved by all (including my 2, 6 and 7 year olds). Will make again soon.
Wonderful Wonderful! I've been looking for a recipe such as this one, an aunt made hers like this. I could never find a recipe to match what she did, all I remember was her using 1 part ground pork to 2 parts beef. The veal fills in for part of that. Will make again.
This truly are the real thing I am italian and this is how we truly make our meatballs...don't let the other *authentic* recipes fool you. Great!!
I'm not giving this a rating because I didn't follow the recipe, as far as the ingredients go. I needed to use up some pork sausage so I made these meatballs with 1 lb. of the sausage with 1 lb. of ground beef. I followed the rest of the ingredients exactly. I have to say that these are the first meatballs that didn't fall apart on me while they were browning, so I'm very happy about that. My pork was too highly seasoned, I think, to be successful in these meatballs. I'm definitely going to make these again with the ground pork, veal and beef because this was a great, easy recipe and, again, they didn't fall apart while browning. Thanks Marie, I'm going to do these again, properly!
