Carla's Sloppy Joe Mix

"This recipe has so many spices that I started keeping this mix pre-made. This mix recipe is just enough for one sloppy joe recipe (1 pound of ground meat). A lot of times I will finish the recipe and then keep the filling in the freezer."

  2. Carla, I made your Sloppy Joes for lunch today. They were spicy, thick and rich, but also very good. This is one sloppy joe recipe I think my husband will definitely like. When making the sloppy joes, I did sub diced green bell peppers for the green pepper flakes, as I had bell peppers in the fridge, and besides, I enjoy bell peppers in my sloppy joes. I also subbed Lawry's Season Salt for the table salt. I really enjoyed these served with shredded Mexican cheese. Since the sauce is rather thick, I will be nuking them in the microwave when I reheat them. Carla, thank you for posting this delcious sloppy joe recipe. I look forward to making them again.

  3. We've used this recipe several times now and the whole family loves it. I usually use real green pepper though. Thanks.

  4. I needed a quick lunch today before my boyfriend went to work, so I picked this... I used fresh onions and bell peppers and a very spicy chili powder. It was a very very spicy sloppy joe. I think this was because i over processed the onions and so the juice kept the heat going... In any case, the flavor was incredible and my boyfriend loved the heat. Definitely making this again!!

Hello! My name is Carla. I have 5 kids ages 10 and under. I love to cook, sing, paint, bicycle, and play piano. It's hard to squeeze in that many activities anymore though, but I still manage. I grew up in Alabama and learned to cook everything southern. I spent a lot of my childhood and all of my adult life in Colorado, the healtiest state in the nation. I've become a health and fitness fanatic. I'ts a real trick to balance healthy eating and southern cooking. I've learned to make a lot of modifications to make those southern dishes work for us though.
