LOVE how this turned out... a bit on the runny side like some people have said, but i think maybe cutting down on the butter a bit next time will fix that. it's all i can do to not just eat the frosting before i get the chance to even put it on anything!
excellent but a bit sugary from the powdered sugar. yum.
Yum! The best icing EVER. EVER. Tastes like caramel! No joke! 2 thumbs up!
My family loved this! The kids thought it tasted like candy!
I've been wanting to make a caramel sauce - getting up the courage. Cooking Sugar and I don't normally work well together. This worked out great! My 3-year old grandson helped make the cake and he "let" me do the icing! So delish! So easy! Thank you!
Growing up in W.Va., my great aunt would make this as my "special day" cake (meaning a day when the sun didn't shine). The taste holds so many amazing memories! Thank-you SO MUCH for posting this!!! I have been searching for over ten years, and this recipe is the only one that has brought me to tears at first taste!!! I only wish I could give you more stars!
This worked very well and covered a double layer 9 inch cake. It is a bit too sweet for my liking, but it was very easy to make and the technique was perfect. Thank you!
This frosting was very sweet, but not quite thick enough to spread on a layer cake - probably thick enough for cookies or a 9x13, though. If I were to make it again, I would probably add only a little milk as needed and as little powdered sugar as possible.
I wanted to like this, but this did not taste like caramel at all. All you can taste is sugar.
