- 4 tablespoons butter
- 7 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon orange liqueur (Triple Sec, Cointreau, Grand Marnier)
- 4 bananas, sliced in half lengthwise
directions
- In a pan, melt the butter, add the sugar, stir to combine and simmer for 3 minute.
- Add the lemon and liqueur and stir gently.
- Put the bananas in the sauce and simmer for 5 min, or until the sauce thickens. Occasionally spoon the sauce over the bananas to baste them.
- Serve with vanilla ice cream or waffles and whipped cream (optional).

I really enjoyed this, as did the kiddos, ages 5 yrs and 18 mo. I used just 2 bananas, since that's what I had, and left the sauce amounts the same to serve over sourdough pancakes. Really good. I did add spiced rum rather than the liqueur, and let come back to a boil to cook out the alcohol, then simmered. The lemon gives this a really bright taste that cuts thru the sweet pancake. As usual, I couldn't get my freak of a husband, who'd rather eat store brand cheap pancake "syrup" to try this, but I will definitely be making this again. Thanks for sharing.
