  1. This was good, but bordering on too sweet

  2. Sooooo good and so easy! You already have this stuff in your kitchen so you can throw it together in a flash. I used 1c sugar and 1/2 c corn syrup. I was taking it to a party and had to stop myself at one apple because I could just keep eating it. Someone had an apple pie at the party and I drizzled this stuff over the top and it was AMAZING! So, for Thanksgiving, have this on hand to drizzle over pies, ice cream or whipped cream. You'll be a rock star! Yummy!

  3. Great recipe... I agree just a tad too sweet as a couple others have said (hence the 4 stars). I think I'll cut the brown sugar by 1/3 next time. So good to have an excellent recipe that I can work with and modify to my liking. As a couple other reviewers said, I cooked and stirred closer to 10 minutes until I felt it wasn't at all grainy. The kids devour apples with this caramel... everyone loves it! : )

  4. This tasted wonderful. I did have issues with the condensed milk separating - don't know if maybe I didn't cook it long enough? The dip looked very unappealing after the separation, although I was able to (more or less) stir the milk back in. Also, unless you're making enough for 20-30 people, you might want to cut the recipe in half.

  5. Super, the best ever!

Tweaks

  1. Outstanding! I live in Washington... apple country... and always have tons of them given to us in the Fall. I love the caramel dip in the stores, but it's so expensive. So, I decided to try this. I used margarine instead of butter (it was all I had on hand), and put in the pan cold. I added the brown sugar (used just shy of the 1 1/2 cups), milk, and corn syrup. I set my stove to med-low, and mixed. I let the margarine melt into the mix slowly, and just stirred pretty consistently. Once the margarine was melted in, the sugar LOOKED incorporated, but I tasted it, and it was gritty in texture. I kept on stirring, and tasted occasionally. After about 15 minutes (from start), the mixture was silky smooth. I dirtied several spoons, but it was worth it! This is wonderful. It filled a 4 Cup bowl.
