I too made these ( actually before Brandi did )but didn't want to be the one to deliver the bad news, however! I used a homemade recipe for the caramels and I thought maybe that was the reason for it not turning out as expected, therefore didn't feel that it deserved a low rating. My experience with this bar was that the caramel mixture just kind of sat on top of the bottom crust.I feel overall this bar would have tasted better had the caramel stayed on top of the apple mixture. However, I am willing to give these another try using store-bought caramels as I'd really like to see this recipe work. The flavour combination sounds so good together!I will try it again and I'll let you know how it works out,Rhonda!!

We really enjoyed these. They really did taste like caramel apples. I had no problems at all with the recipe. The only change I did was instead of using the bagged caramels (our store was out) I used a 16oz carton of caramel dip. (found in produce section... usually by the apples). I just put the caramel dip in the microwave for about a minute to soften it up and then poured it over the apples. Worked great for me. Thank you for sharing.

OMG these turned out HORRIBLE! I followed the recipe right as it tells you, and we had no luck! Trying to melt the caramels without them sticking to the pan was something in itself. I hate to rate so low, maybe someone else will have better luck then I. I let a few people try them and they all said the same, don't make again...sorry!
