I thought this cake was going to be a winner with the family and it just wasn't. The cake flavor is wonderful, they didn't like the cinnamon candy in the apples. I was very surprised at this, I liked it. But I'm thinking I could make the apples plain, and spice them more like apple pie and then proceed with the rest of the recipe because the cake is really good.

This was very simple to make. I made it in a tube pan and it made a beautiful presentation. Followed the recipe exactly. Thanks for posting.

We really enjoyed this. The real challenge was finding the red hots ! I accidentially added 3 eggs instead of the 2 and used plain yogurt for the sour cream. This is different from most cakes and enjoyable! Thanks:)

The cake is simple to make. It is very tasty, and the neighborhood children (my taste testers) loved it. It is quite decorative and would add a festive touch to any setting. It does taste lie candy apples, a taste that brings back fond memories of youth. When "taffy aples" were out in the shops the holiday seaseon was near, Christmas was right around the corner.
