Campers Pizza

"My kids used to love sitting around the campfire and making these things. They would have two pie irons going all the time. Often times we didn't have Pepperoni and they would use ham or other meats and mushroom pieces. Cooking time will vary from 3-5 minutes usually. Be sure to turn often and check the bread often after 2-3 minutes. Once your iron is hot they will cook quickly."

  1. Thanks for reminding me of this awesome camping treat! My family camped almost every weekend when I was growing up and this was a favourite of my sister and I. We always had pepperoni and quite often we would have ham and pineapple as well. Pie irons are the greatest thing, eh? Thanks Chuck for this super camping recipe!

  2. My hubby learned this "recipe" in boy scouts. We make these when we are at our cabin in the mountains. My kids love making them. We also make apple pies this way too.

  3. We make these ALL the time. We just had them this past weekend we also make apple and peach pies the same way. They are easy and a fun time for everyone.

I’m over the hill and heading down the back side at a rapid rate it seems, single, and retired now. My loves? Good friends, most of all. After that I guess it would be wildlife and photographing it. In fact, I love anything that deals with wild animals and the outdoors. Then comes playing with my dog and making a mess trying to cook in the kitchen or around the fire pit, grill or smoker while enjoying a good tumbler of whiskey (whisky).
