Made as directed but doubled the butter beans. Everyone loved these beans! Thanks for posting
My family absolutely loved this recipe. I didn't make changes except that I didn't have lima beans so I used white cannelini beans and I used packaged bacon bits. I also did this in the crockpot as we were going to be gone for a few hours. I put it on low and it was that way for about 3 hours. It was wonderful. I served it with ham and potato salad as a summer Sunday dinner. I know I will make it again and again.
We loved these beans! I used butter beans in place of the lima beans and homemade beans in place of the pork and beans, but other than that made as posted. Everyone here went back for seconds and thirds. This recipe is going into my favorites for future use!
Very tasty. A perfect winter meal. I would have given it five stars, but mine came out almost on the dry side, even when I shorted the cooking time by almost 10 minutes. Next time I will check after a half hour. Very good though, and will make again.
Love it. Easy to fix and keeps well when crowd isn't eating at the same time. Interesting flavors and textures.
I had a suspicion Dh would like this and WOW, was I correct. He says to tell everyone it's a keeper. I'm a cooking goddess tonight, as far as he's concerned. I, too, was concerned about the cup of brown sugar, but we didn't find the dish overly sweet either. This was so easy. It would be a good make ahead dish for busy days.
Out-freaking-standing !! Fast to prepare. Not as sweet as a cup of brown sugar would make you think. Doubled, would be an excellent choice for a potluck. Thanks SO much for posting this!
Great recipe, kind of like BBQ all mixed up together.
