These were easy to make. I used yellow cake mix. EAsy clean up - a no fuss cookie. That is my kind of cookie recipe. Moist and :yummy: What else could you ask for. Made for I Recommend Tag Game.

These were good, but had to bake them longer than 5 minutes, more like 8 minutes. I used yellow cake mix and milk chocolate chip cookies. As mentioned - they are a good "in a hurry" cookie. I only got something like 28 cookies, which may be why it required a longer baking time. Thanks for posting. Made for I Recommend Tag game.

I decided to use 1/2 cup butter Crisco per others suggestions. It worked perfect for the red velvet cookies, which formed nice crackley tops and a nice shape. However, the German chocolate cookies didn't spread at all. in fact, half way through baking, when I noticed they weren't budging, I flattened each with a glass and finished baking. The differance in the mixes is that the red velvet didn't have pudding in the mix and the German chocolate did so the next time I make these, if the cake mix has pudding in the mix, I will use the 2/3 cup as written. Otherwise, very good and it will be alot of fun experimenting with differant flavores. I topped the red velvet with cream cheese frosting and red sprinkles and pecan coconut frosting on the German chocolate.

I made these while participating in the Fall/Halloween Swap 07!! Great, FUN, and very versatile recipe...the amount of cake flavors and candy chip, nut or dried fruit add ins are endless. They take almost no time and produce an impressive amount of cookies. For my first experimentation I used butter cake mix and added white chocolate chips and chopped walnuts...yummy!!! :) I brought them to a family Friday night get together and they were quite the hit!! -and best of all they were a no fuss/no muss project for me on a hectic day!!! :) I want to say a Thank you to my Halloween Swap partner - foxjen - for being a great swap partner and for this cute cookie recipe.

This recipe has been in my family for years! I think my mom clipped it out of Woman's Day or Family Circle. We loved experimenting with all the different cake mixes on the market. A big favorite is red velvet with cream cheese icing. Also popular is carrot cake with coconut added in. The possibilities are endless.

I liked these, because they were really easy. The flavor is good I used a yellow cake mix and added 3/4 cup of chocolate chips. They turned out a bit thin for my liking. I might reduce the shortening next time to 1/2 cup, I think they are a little greasy. But that could depend on the cake mix too. I had to cooke them longer than stated, about 7-8 minutes. Thanks! My kids will have choc. chips cookies and hot chocolate for an after school snack today, and it only took a few minutes!

I saw another recipe that used oil on here, but since I didn't have oil I had to use butter flavored Crisco and I only used 1/2 cup. The were really good, but I wonder what would happen if I increased it to 2/3 cup?

We love this recipe! Yellow cake mix is divine with milk chocolate chips. Lemon cake mix is sooo good with powdered sugar sprinkled on while hot. Devils Food with cream cheese frosting is great. My kids love to put frosting inbetween two to make an 'oreo' type cookie. Next I want to try strawberry with white chocolate chips & chocolate with peanutbutter chips!
