I hate to give these only 3 stars but I guess I had higher expectations for them. They're good..pretty easy. Guess we're not that much of cake doughnut fans. They are easy but they still took me awhile to fry all them and I only got about 18 doughnuts out of a batch, not 30. And they were 18 pretty small ones at that. For the work of doing it, I think I'll just stick with bought, but it was fun to make at first. Thanks.

Tender and delicious, just like the real thing. When my brother got a bite,he said "is this Tim Hortons? " so I guess this sums it all.I used orange blossom water instead of vanilla.I made some with powdered sugar and some with cinnamon-sugar.Both were filled with blackberry jam and both variations were really good.Thank you for posting this delicious recipe!

I tried several recipes and I keep coming back to this one. I tried making it with two eggs for kicks. I'll let you know how it turns out.

EXCELLENT!!! They were also super easy to make. I made a glaze of powder sugar, a little brown sugar, milk, and a TLBS butter and put a little nutmeg and cinnamon in them and they were gone in a flash. I cut the recipe in half because it was my first time making them. I made them into donut holes because I don't have a donut cutter, and that size is perfect for the little ones. Took no time at all to whip up and make

I give these 5 stars. Very easy, very fast, and very good. The one and only doughnut shop in my little town just lost a customer. These are so easy and fast that I could make them in the morning before work! A keeper. And I think it would be easy to add spices or other goodies. Will try it next time. Tomorrow??

These were yummy! Better than any yeast recipe I've tried so far. The recipe is easy as well (my 10 year old son mixed up the dough. I filled them with jelly. Good!

Very easy to make, just dumped everything in a bowl. I did add a little nutmeg and cinnamon though. When done mixing it wasn't tacky or sticky so it made it very nice to handle. Texture was very nice to. I personally was looking more for the texture like you get from the old fashioned doughnut making machins but for home these were quick and easy! DH and DC loved them! Also I didn't use a cutter as I couldn't find it so I rolled small balls, and made little logs (perfect for dipping on coffee, hot coco or tea). Perfect! :-)

Very easy. I didn't have buttermilk, so I subbed sour milk (milk/vinegar). I glazed some with plain vanilla glaze, some with maple. MMMM! Still good the next morning.

These were really tasty. I didn't have the patience (or the biscuit/doughnut cutter) to make them into classic "doughnut" shapes. I spooned about a golfball sized drop into the fryer. They weren't pretty, but they sure tasted good! Even plain! I tried powedered sugar and a cinnamon/sugar coating. The cinnamon sugar ones won, hands down. Thanks for posting.

I just made these and they are fantastic. I've tried other doughnut recipies, but my hubby never liked them...until these. They were quick and easy to make, and the directions are great. I followed the recipy as stated except I didn't make a roll and slice, I made little balls. I dusted with powdered sugar after frying. Really good. Thanks for posting

Hi AndyPandy.. well, another one of your winners Andy...made your cake doughnuts yesterday...wow, these were absolutely wonderful, and quite simple to make... I think they are even better than the dry store-bought kind...one problem though, I wish that I had made more, I was lucky to have gotten just one for me, my son came over with some friends, and they all went in a flash, this is an outstanding doughnut recipe, they just melt in your mouth, I am making going to make a double batch tomorrow, and I will freeze some (that is if there is any left to freeze ha..ha, I wonder if they freeze well?) We all enjoyed these big time...thank you again Andy for such a wonderful doughnut recipe...keep up the great work...love your recipes! :-)

They are just the way I remember my mother's tasting. I added the nutmeg as suggested. They are crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The perfect cake doughnut. My kids and hubby were eating them hot from the fryer. Thanks BRenda
