This is a really easy Russian cake.

This recipe was very tasty but really needed more elaboration as to what to do with the egg whites. How far do I whisk them? Soft peaks? Stiff peaks? At what point do I add the sugar? Would confectioner's sugar work better? I had to take some guesses, but -in the end- I came up with a really nice, light cake that my friends and I enjoyed. The recipe just needs some more elaboration is all.

  1. Beat egg whites, add half the sugar, refrigerate.
  2. Mix yolks with half the sugar.
  3. Add the vegetable oil, orange juice, flour, vanilla, baking powder, mix well.
  4. When done, add the egg whites.
  5. Bake in greased/ floured pan at 350°F for 30-40 minutes.
  6. When done, remove from pan immediately.
  7. When cooled, split horizontally.
  8. Spread a layer of whipped cream between the layers, then use whipped cream to frost the entire cake.
