My martini-style version of the Brazilian national drink, the caipirinha. Can be made sweet or tart to taste. I like to balance the tartness of the citrus and the pungency of the alcohol with a discreet amount of sugar. Should be very smooth, not too overpowering. Great on a hot summer day!
- 2 ounces cachaca
- 1 ounce vodka
- 1 -2 tablespoon superfine sugar, to taste
- 1 tablespoon water
- 1 lime, juice of
- In cocktail shaker, combine lime juice, sugar, cachaca, and vodka.
- Add ice and shake until thoroughly chilled and frothy.
- Serve in a chilled martini glass.
