Did this at work this morning. The chicken looked great-crispy and appetising, and was easy to do. I marinated it for 1 hour, then baked (a triple recipe) in the oven. It released a lot of liquid so I reduced that on the stove top after removing the chicen pieces. People were a bit sceptical of coffee and chicken, but changed their minds after trying it! It almost has a smokey BBQ flavour-it's interesting.

Very tasty. The hubby kept sniffing around the kitchen the whole time it was cooking. I used instant coffee (1 tablespoon + 1/4 cup hot water) and actually forgot to pre-cook the marinade. The chicken came out nice and dark, although didn't crisp up. Still, it was very good and we'll definitely be using this again. I think it would be really good to baste a turkey with this too.

Made for the Mar Photo Challenge (using coffee) ~ I added garlic, but otherwise made as written except for the use of wings that I marinated for 1 hr. The flavor is tasty, unique & hard to define. You get a subtle sense of BBQ, sweet-sour & smoky flavors all melded together by the coffee that compliments them w/o overpowering them. There is a lot of liquid released that joins the marinade sauce & I suggest that be poured off for the last 15 min cooking time if an outside crisp is desired. I did & froze it to either baste or add to my next whole oven-roasted or crockpot chicken. btw, I deglazed the pan w/a bit of coffee too. Thx for sharing this recipe w/us. It was fun to make & will be repeated.
