Cabbage Burgers

This is an old family recipe. This recipe is time consuming but well worth the effort. Can be frozen and rewarmed. Place 2-3 in a freezer bag. Good for quick snack.

I found that wo tablespoons of each spice overwhelmed the taste of the cabbage and the beef. We could not finish the meal.

  1. Brown hamburger meat, onions and garlic in large stewing pot.
  2. Add salt, pepper, basil and thyme.
  3. Wash cabbage and cut in half.
  4. Remove core and cut cabbage into shreds.
  5. Add to hamburger meat mixture.
  6. Add sherry.
  7. Cook 15 minutes.
  8. Turn off heat and leave to the side to cool.
  9. Prepare hot roll mix as directed.
  10. Flour a surface and roll out dough.
  11. Cut a 4X4 square and fill with 1 1/2 table spoons of hamburger/cabbage mixture.
  12. Pull dough around mixture until closed.
  13. Bake on a greased cookie sheet till brown.
  14. Brush with butter/margarine.
  15. Bake at 375°F.
  16. Makes approx 5 dozen.
