i made these in a cake pan and cut them into small squares for a bite sized dessert and they were delicious! i didn't have any vanilla sugar so i used sugar free vanilla pudding powder mix and it worked just as well.

I actually made this recipe in a bundt-like pan because I wanted a cake. :)
Fantastic, really and truly. I cut the amount of baking powder in half because I don't care for the taste, and used lightly salted ("doux") butter. This made a gorgeous, buttery cake - a little heavier and drier than North American cakes, but absolutely heavenly. We ate this with strawberries and cream. Truly divine. Thank you for posting!

These were FANTASTIC! I even helped my son clean out the bowl of batter after we poured the cupcakes. They are buttery, sweet, and divine! Thanks for the wonderful recipe that I'm adding to my keepers! ;)

I enjoyed these cupcakes. I cut the recipe in half and it made 5 large cupcakes. They reminded me of cupcakes I had in Europe.... which are so different from American cupcakes.... They are not as sweet and are more like a muffin than a cake. I loved the buttery flavor. The three year old ate them without icing and we ate them with a german frosting... couldn't resist!
