Sometimes, in a pinch, I reach for the packaged potato mix, but it is so nice to take the time & prepare a nice potato dish from scratch, as I did when using your recipe! I pretty much followed it & chopped the leek pretty small, but I did add a 3rd clove of garlic & used lemon pepper instead of the usual S&P! Many thanks for posting the recipe!   1. Place the potatoes in a large saucepan with enough water to cover by 3 inches. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat and cook for 17 to 20 minutes, or until tender. Drain and return to the saucepan. Mash until fairly smooth.
  2. Meanwhile, in a medium saucepan, combine the leek, garlic, and broth. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, reduce the heat to medium, and simmer for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the vegetables are tender. Drain. Stir in the buttermilk, butter, salt, and pepper. Warm gently over medium heat, stirring often, for 2 minutes, or until the butter melts. Add to the potatoes and stir until well combined.
