My daughter made these tonight. Not sure yet how they will taste once they cool, but they are yummy while still warm from the oven! Update: They were just as good the next day. A cookie for breakfast?? Yes, please!

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Melt butter in the microwave.
  4. In a large bowl, combine the warm melted butter with the cocoa powder. Whisk until smooth.
  5. Whisk in sugar, vanilla extra, and buttermilk.
  6. Gradually stir in the flour mixture until no streaks of flour remain.
  7. Stir in chocolate chips.
  8. Drop dough in 1-inch balls onto prepared baking sheet, leaving about 2 inches between cookies to allow for spreading.
  9. Bake 10-12 minutes until cookies are set around the edges.
  10. Cool for 2-3 minutes on a baking sheet, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
