Mashed potatoes are popular at our house, but I've never made them with buttermilk. What a fantastic option. I had a few extra potatoes, so slightly upped all the other ingredients. Used thin-skinned potatoes, which I never bother to peel, and mashed it all by hand. Absolutely scrumptious. The family attacked before I had time to get a pic. Maybe next time. :) Thanks for posting.
Excellent change from plain mashed spuds. Had some buttermilk in the fridge, so why not try these? I just used thinly sliced scallion tops instead of the chives. Didn't use a mixer, just hand mashed like crazy (good stress reliever) and they came out fine.

Mmm, what a yummy mash! I really liked the tang from the buttermilk with the sharp chives and earthy potatoes. The only change I made was to not use the butter and leave the mash a bit more chunky cause thats how I like it. :)

Oh, yummy! These were so good. The only change I made was to steam my potatoes in my electric steamer because I have found this makes a really nice mash without a lot of extra liquid. From that point on I followed everything and we loved them. I really liked the slight tang that gave the mash a sour cream and chives vibe. I think next time (and there will be a next time) I will try sprinkling in just a little bit of cheese to melt in. I bet that would be good. Made for Zaar Stars Tag.
