Something to make that reminds me of Germany. I haven't tried this yet.

Since I am German I grew up with Mom making this recipe often on the weekends. It is so good and simple. We had it with milk or coffee and some fresh whipped cream. Sometimes Mom sprinkled it with slivered almonds that roasted on top and were nice and toasted after the cake was done....OH just plain YUMMY :0) Ri

Ingredients Nutrition


  1. Sprinkle yeast over warm water.
  2. Set aside.
  3. Heat next 4 items until sugar dissolves and butter melts.
  4. Cool to lukewarm.
  5. Add dissolved yeast.
  6. Set aside.
  7. In a large bowl add flour, eggs and yeast mixture.
  8. Stir until smooth and blended.
  9. Pour into a buttered 13 x 9 inch pan spreading dough even.
  10. Let rise in warm place 45 minutes.
  11. Mix rest of items well and sprinkle over top of dough.
  12. Bake at 375 degrees for 30 minutes or until top is golden and syrupy.
