Yummy preparation, but need to either dice it fine or use whole slices to keep it all from falling of.
Great patties, and thanks for a new idea for serving patties or meatballs!! This was our lunch today, and I love the topping and will use it again! Because I'm cutting carbs as much as possible, I used those huge open brown mushrooms as "buns" -- fried them in a pan, then put my rather fat patties on them. I used a little more than 1lb ground beef. It tasted great, although the mushrooms do shed liquid in the process, therefore the "sauce" on the plate in the photos! Thanks, Derf -- you posted this so long ago, you have probably forgotten this recipe!
This is so yummy. And the patties were moist. And full of flavours. Instead of adding parsley to the topping, I added dried Italian seasoning. I had seasoned dry breadcrumbs. I didn't use cayenne pepper. Instead of green pepper, I used red. The cheese was mozzarella. I didn't use the onion cause I thought it would not be cooked enough for us. The topping was delicious. Nothing was waster. Thanks Derf. Made for Alphabet chef game
Well, burgers are always a hit in my house and this one was a great find! The bread crumbs and egg give the beef patties a moister texture as well as great flavor from the herb seasoning. I went light on the cayenne because DH can be a little wimpy but I would use the whole amount next time. I was able to use some fresh tomatoes and a pepper from the garden. Loved the bruschetta topping. Sliced up some fresh mozzarella and broiled about 5 minutes till brown and melted. We did the patties themselves on foil on the grill. They stuck to the foil a little bit so I would be sure to spray the foil with some cooking spray next time. Served these on soft onion rolls with home made refrigerator pickles. Thanks for a great meal!!
Really tasty thanks Derf. I used a mix of red and green capscum and cheddar cheese as that's what I had on hand. I only used one tomato and had plenty of topping.
Derf - this was so tasty and good!! Used red pepper instead of green and grilled on the BBQ (then put it in a dish under broil in the oven for a couple of minutes) but made the rest as is! Thanks for a wonderful dinner Derf! :)
I had fun w/this tasty recipe when I paired it w/Shrimp Fra Diavolo, reduced both to 2 servings & served them together as *Surf & Turf* bruschetta on split baguette bread w/a green salad. I made the recipe as written except I made the meat patties much thinner & somewhat elongated so I could line them up on the bread I had lightly brushed w/olive oil & assemble the bruschetta w/the veggie mix & cheese. We loved it! Thx for sharing this recipe w/us. :-)
