Brownies With Broiled Coconut Frosting

Ingredients:

Yield: 24 brownies

FOR THE BROWNIES

• ¾ cup granulated sugar
• ½ cup butter or ½ cup margarine , cut into pieces
• 2 tablespoons water
• 1 (8 ounce) box semisweet baking chocolate squares , broken into pieces
• 2 large eggs
• 1 cup all-purpose flour
• 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
• ¼ teaspoon baking soda
• ¼ teaspoon salt

FOR THE COCONUT FROSTING

• 2 cups flaked coconut
• 1 cup packed brown sugar
• ¼ cup butter or ¼ cup margarine , melted
• ¼ cup nestle Carnation Evaporated Milk

Directions:

1. FOR THE BROWNIES: Preheat oven to 350F,. Grease 13x9-inch baking pan.
2. Heat, stirring constantly, sugar, butter and water in a large, heavy-duty saucepan, just to boiling. Remove from heat. Add baking bars; stir until melted. stir in eggs one at a time. Add flour, vanilla extract, baking soda and salt; stir well. Spread into prepared pan.
3. Bake for 16-20 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out slightly sticky. Cool in pan for 20 minutes.
4. FOR THE COCONUT FROSTING: Combine coconut, brown sugar, butter and evaporated milk in medium bowl. Spread over cooled brownies. Broil 4-inches from heat for 3-4 minutes or until golden brown.
