Brownies Agave

"Like many people we are eating healther and cutting out sugars, oils, and trying to use wheat alternatives. The recipe below is for our brownies without those things. As good as they taste, we wouldn't know they weren't the real sugary thing if we had not made them ourselves! Enjoy!"

  1. I didn't have enough agave so I used about half maple syrup... I also read previous reviews and added in about 1/4 cup (equivalent) of splenda... brownies WERE a bit chewy, but that is from using applesauce instead of oil... This is a great way to satisfy your sweet tooth without feeling too guilty.

  2. We tried this tonight, and seeing it was fat free I added 2 tblspns of oil. Since it was for my kids, not me. I doubled the batch, and forgot to put in enough eggs. Even with whole not whites, and short on the eggs, they loved it. Warning, it is not out of the box. It tastes less sweet, and has a different texture. If you want greasy brownies,, you'll need more oil. But we thought it great!!

  3. These turned out really rubbery for me, and it wasn't the spelt flour because I cook with that quite a bit. Too bad, the idea is excellent!

  4. I am on a constant search for recipes that do not contain sugar or artificial sweeteners. I'm not able to eat either so I have to deal with things like xylitol and stevia. So I love this recipe! I read the first review and it is correct. The brownies are a bit more "cake-like" but they are still super moist and taste just like they are full of regular sugar. The spelt flour tastes just like regular flour to me. My husband didn't know that these weren't regular brownies! Thank you for a wonderful sugar alternative dessert!

  5. My brownies have a more bread-like texture and were a little less sweet than I like.I used walnuts instead of almonds and next time I think I will add a bit of stevia for a little more sweetness.Thank you!

I am an CFO in Springfield, MO but I love to come up with new recipes. My family all say that I have a knack for it and I missed my calling! lol I am really trying to come up with as many low carb recipes as I can. I have several family members and friends who are diabetic and I diet using the low-carb method. So it is good for all of us!
