Brownie Pudding

This is an oven version of ChrissyO's Crockpot Hot Fudge Sundae Cake that I've been doing for years. I got it from my 1976 Better Homes and Gardens New Cookbook. A cake-like brownie will form on the top and a pudding-like sauce will form underneath. Just cut into desired number of servings and turn up-side down into a bowl or onto a saucer and spoon some of the remaining sauce over. This is nice served alone or with vanilla or butterbrickle ice cream on the side. Baking time is approximate, but check for brownie to test clean on toothpick.

• Cook Time: 40 mins

Ingredients:

Serves: 6-8

Yield: 1.0 8X8X2 i ...

• 1 cup sifted all-purpose flour
• 3/4 cup sugar
• 2 tablespoons cocoa (dry baking cocoa powder)
• 2 teaspoons baking powder
• 1/2 teaspoon salt
• 1/2 cup milk
• 2 tablespoons vegetable oil or 2 tablespoons salad oil
• 1 teaspoon vanilla
• 1/2 cup chopped walnuts
• 3/4 cup brown sugar
• 1/4 cup cocoa (dry baking cocoa powder)
• 1 3/4 cups hot water

Directions:

1. Sift together first five (5) ingredients; add milk, oil, and vanilla; mix till smooth.
2. Stir in nuts.
3. Pour into greased 8 X 8 X 2-inch baking pan.
4. Combine remaining ingredients; pour over batter.
5. Bake at 350 deg.
6. F about 40 minutes.

I really liked this quick & easy dessert! This got better to me after it sat a day or two(yes, it actually lasted that long as my hubby is not a big sweet eater!) the sauce thickened almost like a hot fudge consistency,really satisfies a craving for an ooey gooey brownie! Awesome on it's own or with whipped cream or ice cream! Will definitely make this again sometime.

I thought I posted a review on this ages ago. this recipe is great....satisfy your chocolate craving for sure. The sauce is to die for. Followed the recipe as written, and didn't think it needed any changed when I do it the next time, which will be soon.

wow! ooey gooey chocolatey, wonderful dessert! and it was so quick and easy to prepare. the sauce underneath is so incredible, this didn't even need whipped or ice cream. the sauce does thicken upon sitting, i hid it so it would last more than 1 day and ,if it's possible, it was better the second time around. thanks so much for this recipe.
