Brownie Fingers

"This is by far my favorite brownie recipe. I have yet to find an occasion where homemade brownies would not be suitable. Freezes very well, so these are made in mass quantity in November for Christmas, and again in the Spring for the summer picnics."

directions

  • Heat oven to 350°F Line a 13x9x2 inch baking pan with foil, grease foil.
  • Set aside.
  • Melt butter and chocolate in a large saucepan over LOW heat till smooth.
  • Do NOT COOK, you are only melting the chocolate and butter together, this is very very important.
  • Remove from heat.
  • Stir in eggs, granulated sugar, and vanilla.
  • Stir in flour and the ¾ cup cocoa powder.
  • Spread batter in prepared pan.
  • Bake for 22 to 25 minutes or till a wooden toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Cool in pan on a wire rack.
  • Lift brownies from pan with foil.
  • Cut into bars, wiping knife between cuts.
  • Roll in powdered sugar or, in a mixture of equal parts powdered sugar and cocoa powder.
  • I usually serve them plain, and I think they are just fine, but my husband like them rolled in the cocoa sugar the best.
  • Makes 64.
  • To store: Place in layers separated by waxed paper in an airtight container; cover.
  • Store at room temperature up to 3 days or freeze up to 3 months.

  1. These are delicious and so easy to make. I made them as directed but didn't have any unsalted butter, so I took the plunge and used the salted stuff. I figured I was safe because there was no salt in the recipe. They were out-of-this-world. Everyone liked them and most of them are gone. I will make these for Christmas plates as they would make them look so pretty. thanks for posting this wonderful recipe.

  2. when i cooked it it exploded in my pugs face and now he does have one.

  3. Good! Very dark chocolate-y. My tops crumbled a bit when cutting. Also, I cut these into literal finger-sized pieces, but only got approximately 40 pieces.

  4. I added chopped walnuts of course! They are great!

  5. This is my new favourite brownie recipe! I just love the texture...very chewy...the way brownies are supposed to be and very moist. I made the chocolate with margerine (sorry, no butter on hand) and 1/2 cup of chocolate chips melted in the microwave. Then I added the remainder of the ingredients to the mixing bowl, popped in the oven and out came these delicious little brownie fingers! I rolled then while still warm in the powdered sugar. I only made 1/2 the recipe but now wish I had made the whole batch. Will be taking these to my son's for Super Bowl Sunday...at least most of them! Thanks again for a great keeper!
