I was pleasantly surprised by this smoothie! I used four California pitted dates, about 3/4 cup of vanilla unsweetened almond milk, a rounded tablespoon of raw cacao powder a large handful of spinach, omitted the water, and I added a tablespoon of hemp protein powder. It's very rich and chocolately! I can't tell at all that there's spinach in it. And my hemp protein adds a nice nuttiness to it. Thank you, HighVibe!
This is a good smoothie. I have been enjoying another smoothie recipe by this chef, Chocolate Orange Green Smoothie., but realized this morning that we had run out of orange juice so I decided to try this recipe. I omitted the water and instead used about 1 cup of ice to make this a frosty smoothie. I used 2 Medjool dates. I added 1/2 a frozen banana. Next time I may add an extra 1/2 T cocoa. Tasty!
Wow! This is really good. I made it twice today so I could try it with carob powder too. I used cashew milk made in the style of Almond Milk and started with just that and the dates. Then I threw everything else in for a couple minutes. Yummy! Reviewed for Healthy Choices ABC tag.
