Really good shortbread. I skipped the glaze as I wanted something very simple and this was just the thing. The brown butter gives it a butterscotch flavour and the texture is smooth and almost flaky, almost crumbly. Thank you for posting this. Next time I'll try it with the glaze.

KITTENCAL, you did it again! This is my 2nd time to use this web-site and I now find myself looking for KITTENCAL recipes! I tried this recipe and it is a "jewel"! I followed everything just as the recipe calls for. When it came to the glaze however, I accidently splilled 6 Tablespoons of very hot Black Coffee, which I had just poured, into the glaze mix. I had not added the water yet. I checked the amount of coffee by adding Tbls.'s of coffee back into my cup. Then I stirred in the coffee, (since I didn't want to waste my glaze mix), tasted the glaze, and decided to add 1/8 teaspoon of orange extract. Since I now had extra glaze, I used a brush and painted it on until it was all gone. OUT OF THIS WORLD!!! Thank you KITTENCAL. Keep these recipes coming!

Delicious! My husband could have eaten the entire pan of it! Was uncertain whether unsalted butter or salted butter was required. Very easy to make too.

Kittencal, these are AMAZING! They taste like a butterscotchy, nutty shortbread. This was my first experience using so much browned butter and I loved the results. One of my co-workers said I can make this for her every Christmas and she'll be happy. All of my baking sheets were too small or too large. I went with the large and just filled it 2/3 way. I also cooked it a little longer, it kept on seeming too soft to the touch. I wasn't sure what "set" meant for this and it wasn't brown at all so I think I baked it an extra 10 minutes and was afraid of overdoing it so took it out...it still ended up perfect but some better instructions for how to tell when it's "set" and if it should be "lightly?" browned would help. Thank you so much for this recipe. It's a keeper! Made for Zar Tag.
