Easy, simple, delicious ... what more do you want for a holiday treat? My house smells wonderful right now, thanks to these cookies. They have a terrific taste, were stress-free to make, and the bar shape is a nice change from round cookies. I'll be making another batch tomorrow.

I substituted half of the butter with applesauce, which gave the shortbread a wonderfully delicate appley flavour. I also baked for an hour for some more 'crunch'. Overall, great recipe! This one's a sure keeper.

These cookies were delicious!!! My kids loved them and so easy, I cut them in different shapes like triangles and such to add fun to them... Thank you for this easy recipe!

This was extremely easy and quick to make. It made the house smell lovely. My English fiance said it was perfect, even better than the shortbread he would normally buy from the store. It's authentic and tastes wonderful. Thank you!

Simple and tasty! I will be making these again! I excluded 1/4 cup of the flour, and sprinkled sugar on top. These are 5 star cookies, all the way. Thanks ;)

A yummy sandy-textured shortbread. I added a few sprikles of salt as I used unsalted butter to make these. The dough came together easily and was lovely to work with. before baking, I sprinkled the tops of the cookies with a bit of granulated sugar. I liked these better than the traditional white sugar shortbread cookies! A definite keeper!!

These are delicious, Nancy! I love the fact that you just cut them into bars! How easy is that? No more rolling dough into balls for me! These are so quick, easy, and wonderful! Thanks for a great recipe!

Thanks Nancy! This is a simple to make yummy recipe. I'm pregnant w/ twins and suffering from morning sickness and tiredness. I was craving shortbread and this recipe hit the spot. I baked the whole thing in a glass pan and cut it into pieces after 30 mins and left to cool.

These were wonderful! Gave them to family and friends in gift bags for Christmas and they were a huge hit. Everyone's been asking for the recipe! I cut into small 1" strips and drizzled with chocolate to make a striped pattern. Thanks so much for the recipe!

Very easy to make and doesn't take a long time either. I have a fan-assisted oven and my cookies were done in just under 10 minutes at the specified temperature- so be aware and don't let them burn! I didn't have time to bake the whole batch so wrapped half in cling film/ saran wrap and used it the next day (after letting it soften to room temperature) and it worked just fine after being kept overnight. Thanks for a lovely recipe!

Thanks for a new family tradition! I am a *terrible* baker, but even I coul not mess these up! They are so esy to put together, the dough is easy to work with, and they make fabulous cutout cookies! I baked them about 13 minutes and they came out fine! These are my new Christmas decorating cookie!

Wow, this is one tasty shortbread! It's very easy to work with and has a great flavour. But next time I'll definitely reduce the amount of butter used by 1-1.5 tbs because as you can see from my pics the dough was so buttery that the fingers lost their shape while baking. Also I'd add some salt (1/2 ts). Other than that very very nice. Thanks for sharing, Ceezie!

I was looking for a cut-out cookie to make at Christmas to break up the sugar cookie monotony. This recipe fit the bill. These were easy to make even for a novice such as myself. It took much less than 25 minutes to bake though more like 10-12 minutes. They tasted sweet enough on their own in my opinion, but I did jazz them up by drizzling white and semi-sweet chocolate over them.

These were great! I made two batches for a cookie exchange. I rolled and cut out into Christmas shapes and dipped in chocolate. They do taste good, but they were lacking a little bit of something. I think next time I might add a teaspoon of vanilla and that might do it. The dough was easy to work with and each cookie came out great!

Very good, and mostly easy to make. I did want a sweet cookie, so I added 1/3 cup extra sugar to a double recipe. But the dough was sticky, so I probably added an extra cup of sugar. Not sure if that was because I doubled the recipe or not. The end result was still delicious! I baked at 325 for approx. 10-12 minutes, until quite browned on edges. They stay sort of soft until completely cool, when they become crispy. Next time I would like to shorten the baking time so they're not so brown- I believe they would still be crispy. I used cookie cutters, did not prick with fork, and half-dipped the final product in melted chocolate. Yummy!

Loved this shortbread. Not too sweet, but sweet enough. I like that it is crispy. I mixed in 2 cups of the flour with my mixer, and kneaded in the other 1/4 cup so as not to add any more flour on the kneading board. The dough was easy to handle and roll out. Thanks for the recipe. I will be using it from now on.
