Brown Sugar-lemon Cocktail Sauce

My fiance says that this is the best cocktail sauce he's ever had. The key is to use a good-quality storebought chili sauce (I like "Homade"), or make your own. I like the little bite from wasabi powder, and the slight tang from the lemon juice, which offsets the sweet brown sugar.

  1. Combine all ingredients in a small bowl.
  2. Cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours before serving.

Just finished making this. My husband brought home some HUGE shrimp and we were out of cocktail sauce and didn't have horseradish. The only change I made was to use BBQ sauce since I didn't have chili sauce. Tastes great - love the wasabi in it!

This is terrific! We were looking for a cocktail sauce that used wasabi instead of regular horseradish, and this was it. We used 2 tsp wasabi paste, and 2 tsp Vietnamese chili-garlic sauce instead of the powder and chili sauce, respectively. A delicious quick fix with our shrimp! Thanks for posting.
