I found this recipe ages ago as a base for a vegetable stew. I have yet to get to the stew part. These two ingredients make a complete protein and I find it very satisfying. For breakfast, I love it heated with a bit of Splenda Brown Sugar, cinnamon, a dash of cayenne and a touch of butter.
Extremely simple recipe, and a good base, but lacking in spices. I added more salt plus cayenne pepper and that helped out a lot. Next time I'll substitute half the water for vegetable broth, and I think that will make it a 4 star recipe.

For how simple this was to make and how few ingredients it required, this recipe was great. I made a shiitake mushroom stock to use in place of the water (I soaked 6 dried mushrooms in 3 cups of water for 3 hours - I halved the recipe. In a pinch, you can soak for approx. 30 minutes with the burner on warm). And I added a drop of soy sauce to my serving. This makes the perfect side dish, but really is a main dish on its own with all that protein. I ate this with boiled broccoli. Very easy and delicious. And so many ways you can dress it up.
