  1. This is so yummy.I substitute dried cranberries for the raisins. It is crunchy and delicious.

  2. This is one of my most favorite recipes. But because the sunflower nuts are so small and tend to stick to the sides of the bowl, I usually substitute sliced almonds or pine nuts instead. The combination of flavors in this salad and dressing are delicious.

  3. Excellent Salad!!!!!! Easy and a party pleaser. I took this to a family gathering, and everyone said that from now on this is the dish I always have to bring. I used regular mayonaise. Love the crunch and taste of the sunflowers with the boccoli and bacon. Flavors blended perfectly.

  4. This was super yummy! I added halved grape tomatoes, and left out the bacon. What a treat! Thanks!

  5. Made this for 4th of July. Excellent and not a bit left after the party. We don't have miracle whip in Sweden so I used mayonnaise and added a little extra sugar since miracle whip is sweeter than mayo. I used almonds instead of sunflower seeds and white wine vinegar as I couldn't find regular vinegar. Thanks!

Tweaks

  1. I don't like raw broccoli or raisins, but I love this salad! I had to change some things due to what I had on hand. I used Duke's light Mayo instead of Miracle Whip and sweet onion instead of red onion. I also left out the bacon and added some shredded cheese instead. It was delicious! Next time I may try craisins in it instead of raisins, like another reviewer did.

  2. A recipe with this many reviews just has to be good and I wasn't disappointed. We don't get Miracle Whip in NZ so I used Light Mayo instead. Left out the bacon as I was wanting a vegetarian salad. Great taste, easy to prepare and one I will certainly be making again.

  4. I got this recipe from my ex-mother-in-law. We use regular mayo, not miracle whip. Also, we sometimes substitute pecans for the sunflower seeds, and use golden raisins or craisins instead of regular raisins. This is a family favorite at all our holiday meals.

  5. I love this versatile salad! My in-laws and husband rated it five stars. I substituted 1/4 of sliced almonds for the sunflower seeds (didn't have any) and only put in 1/4 of an onion, finely diced. We thought it might have been too overpowering if a whole onion would have been used.
