Great casserole. Easy to do and great flavors. Served with chicken.
Very tasty! I also liked that this version had ingredients I could pronounce. Used a shortcut which worked quite nicely: In the covered casserole dish, added the chopped broccoli and microwaved for 3 mintues on high, no water necessary. Perfectly crisp tender and green, and, since I just added the other ingredients to the cooked broccoli before baking, no extra dish to wash :) Thanks for sharing the recipe!
Takes longer to make than the classic Cheez Whiz/Cr of Mushroom version, but the taste and texture is worth the effort! I used fat free milk and still had great results. Great use for leftover rice....especially from chinese takeout. Thanx for posting!
This was very good. I took it to a pot luck and over half of it was gone. Very easy and yummy. I made as written but used 2% cheddar cheese and light mayo.
Just made this devine rice and broccoli dish that made everybody keep coming back for more. Being in the full heat of the summer most people are cooking "cool" dishes, but we felt the need to comforted, and use up our garden broccoli. Very easy recipe, had everything on hand so that made it even more comforting. The cheese, the broccoli the breads crumbs...all tasted wonderful. We love pepper, so I added some red pepper flakes to the topping with the crackers. Yummmm....tasty! Thank you so much, Galley Wench.
First of all, this was very easy to put together though a bit time consuming for me. It took me a bit longer because I is still had to cook the rice, chop fresh broccoli, make the roux, etc while still tending to the kiddos. But I did feel good feeding it to my family, knowing I didn't pour it out of a package and a can (not that I don't do that and I don't feel guilty when I do from time to time). lol It has a wonderful texture and tastes good too. I think someday I will try it with a pepper jack cheese to give it an umph, but as is, it was perfect for my 11mo old son. Throughly enjoyed also by my dh, myself, and my 7yo this dish will be repeated. Thanks for posting, Galley Wench!
