Even my non-broccoli eating clan loves (and asks) for this. Have made it for years and at the holidays you can sub the dried cranberries of cherrys.
So good! I used half golden raisins and low cal sald dressing instead of mayo.
This has been around for decades and I've never tried it before. Ah...to summon back lost time. A good salad - a bit salty from the sunflower seeds. Next time I'll try it with unsalted seeds.
First had this at a cafe in a small town- love it- so easy and the flavors are all great together ! So glad it is posted !
Every time my sister comes to visit, I have to make this salad. She loves it and we do too. I've made it twice since she's left. Can't go wrong with this one.
I had to serve the crumbled bacon on the side. But everything else was mixed together. Everyone that could eat bacon added it on top, then mixed in.I used golden raisins. I chilled about 2 hours, a keeper to take to a potluck or family dinner. More than a 5 star Krsi Sue.
Just about to post an almost identical salad. Only variation is that the recipe I have uses only 1/2 cup raisins but adds 1 cup seedless green grapes and 1 cup seedless red grapes.
Very good, I used low fat mayo.
I have to double the recipie for any of my familys gatherings. It's a hit at any one of them. I have added cranberries and mandrin oranges instead of raisins with good sucess.
This recipe is wonderful. I make it for every potluck and there is never any left. I toast my sunflower seeds before adding to the recipe..for some reason that make a big difference...a more "nutty" flavor. My sis made it and she only had a vidalia onion..not same at all..needs to be a purple one. Thanks for great recipe!
