I used to make this when I lived in Spain, so that I could have English Muffin Sandwiches like they make at McDonald's. Did you know they don't serve breakfast at the McD's in Spain?
- 1 lb ground pork
- 1 1⁄2 teaspoons salt
- white pepper
- 1 teaspoon rubbed sage
- 1⁄2 teaspoon thyme
- 1 pinch oregano
- 1 clove mashed garlic
- 1 tablespoon ice water
- Mix together all ingredients and form into patties.
- Allow to rest 30 minutes in the refrigerator before use.
- Heat pan over medium-high heat, and fry patties, flipping once.
- About 7 minutes total.
A perfect breakfast sausage, although I will also cut back on the salt next time.
I had to try your recipe, because I also live in Spain and can't find breakfast sausage. This was great! Does it taste just like the sausage you can get in the States? Not really. But I didn't really expect it to, and it really is a good substitute! I doubled the recipe and popped about 3/4 of the recipe in the freezer. Also, I added a little red pepper for that extra spice. This was delicious and my hubby (whos is Spanish but has quite a taste for American food) loved it! Thanks for giving us an easy sausage fix!
Very good! I halved the recipe but found it was a wee bit saltly for me. BUT! I can now control the salt! (bwa-ha-ha) Excellent recipe, and easy and cheap to make. I agree, bye bye Mickey-D's
